Rotational Moulding
Rotational moulding, also known as roto moulding is a custom moulding process for creating many kinds of hollow items, mainly from plastic.
Rotational moulding has a long history of development, which may originate in Egyptian techniques of casting ceramics. However, it is only in the last 30 years, that advances in plastic materials and manufacturing processes have enabled rotational moulding to establish the indispensible place it currently holds across a diverse range of industries.
With Northern Ireland, where TitanEXCEL has its headquarters, Queen’s University Belfast has played a considerable role in the development of the plastics industry. The university’s Polymer Processing Research Centre has come to be regarded as the world’s leading research facility in rotational moulding. By working both locally and internationally with companies on a range of projects, research teams at Queen’s have developed new materials, optimised processing times and developed highly efficient manufacturing techniques. The result has been a greatly improved process that allows for much wider use.
While the rotational moulding process was once limited to the production of plastic toys and hollow chocolate eggs, the industry has now developed to produce other plastic products such as tanks and storage devices that are unrivalled in their strength, uniformity and flexibility.
TitanEXCEL is committed to continuing research and development in the manufacture of plastics technology, particularly plastic moulding processes. Through investment, interactive dialogue with our customers and a determination to explore new opportunities, TitanEXCEL remains a leading force in an evolving industry.
When sourcing a rotational moulding manufacturer for plastic products such as tanks, storage containers and water management systems, there are several imperative factors that must be considered. For example, can the plastic moulding process adopted by the manufacturer meet the specific demands of your brief, do they offer custom moulding, can they meet tight deadlines and do they work with reliable distributors? What assurances can they provide to you, the client?
